On Sunday October 2nd, CIBC FirstCaribbean employees, friends and families in Saint Lucia will participate in the 5th annual CIBC FirstCaribbean Walk for the Cure event, in a bid to raise awareness of cancer and support for the Saint Lucia Cancer Society and Faces of Cancer.
A number of fund raising activities have been underway in the past weeks and will continue throughout the month of October. The public is invited to show their support by making a donation at all branches of CIBC FirstCaribbean or by signing up to participate in the Walk for the Cure through the new registration website: http://cibcfcibwalkforthecure.causevox.com/ or via direct deposit to the Walk for the Cure, CIBC FirstCaribbean account # 106995550
The Walk for the Cure, scheduled for Sunday October 2nd, will be held simultaneously in Rodney Bay and in Vieux Fort. Commencing at 6:00 a.m., walkers will start at the Rodney Bay Branch and walk towards the Mongiraud Gap, through Monchy, through La Retraite and culminate at Pigeon Island.
In Vieux Fort, also at 6:00 a.m., walkers will start at the George Odlum Stadium, through La Ressource, and then come down the Vieux Fort – Laborie Highway to end at the CIBC FirstCaribbean Vieux Fort Branch.
At the completion of the walk participants will be treated to light refreshments, entertainment and interactive talks with medical professionals. Participants are asked to contribute $20.00 towards registration for the walk, with all funds raised through registration and other activities to support the Saint Lucia Cancer Society and Faces of Cancer.
Last year, the Walk for the Cure succeeded in bringing together thousands of walkers regionally and this year the goal is to raise $500,000 USD in support of the cancer organisations within the region.
