THE St. Lucia National Under – 15 Cricket Team has completed yet another very successful weekend of preparation for the 2016 Windward Islands Under – 15 tournament to be held in Dominica from April 1 to April 10.
On Friday evening, the team was addressed by Dane Magloire on the topics: “Representing your country with pride” and “Benefits of sports and cricket”.
On Saturday, the team was involved in cricket skills enhancement in batting, bowling, ground fielding and catching at the Beausejour Cricket Ground. Other activities included team bonding and a cricket quiz.
The following day the National Team played a 50 over practice match against a combined youth team led by Kimani Melius at the Gros Islet Playing Field.
The National Under – 15 team won the toss and batted first, made a massive 402 for 6 in their 50 overs. This huge score was aided by a partnership of 298 for the second wicket between.
Serieux and Tyrel Chicot who both made centuries. Garvin Serieux top scored with a majestic 164 which included 22 fours and 6 sixes, while Chicot stroked 108 which included 15 fours.
Bowling for Melius’ team, Kyle Adonis had 2 for 48 in 10 overs and Allian Ashby 2 for 124 in 9 overs.
In reply, a century from Dane Edward was not enough to challenge the National Under – 15 Team’s score as Melius’ team was bowled out for 212 in 35 overs. Edward made a good looking century (100) comprising 10 fours and 5 sixes. Other good scores came from Allian Ashby (32), and Stephen Mitchel (20).
For the National Under – 15 team, left arm spinner Keygan Arnold bowling with excellent control and skill, finished with figures of 7 for 23 in 9 overs. Earlier on, seamer Lee Solomon picked up 2 for 25 in 5 overs with the new ball.
