FOUR MATCHES THIS WEEKEND.
THE excitement will continue in the St.Lucia Football Association FA Fantasy Inter-District Champions League on Saturday and Sunday as the tournament enters the quarter finals stage dubbed (Final 8) with four matches at two venues.
On Saturday one game is scheduled, from 4:00 p.m.; it’s an all Castries derby at the Sab Sporting Facility when football rivals Marchand (Atletico) come up against La Clery (FC Porto) in what is expected to be a thrilling match-up between the two city teams.
Sunday the SLFA Fantasy train will then whistle its way to the south of the island for the remaining quarter final games at the Philip Marcellin Grounds. From 4:00 p.m. Micoud (Shakhar Donetsk) versus Dennery (Chelsea). At 6:00 p.m. Laborie (FC Basel 1893) versus Choiseul (Barcelona), while at 6:00 p.m. home team Vieux Fort North (Arsenal) will play Canaries (Bayer Leverkusen) at 8:00 p.m.
In the round of sixteen final double header on Saturday 26, Mabouya Valley (AS – Monaco FC) played Laborie (FC BASEL 1893) and Soufriere (Bayern Munchen) took on Canaries (Bayer Leverkusen).
In Game 1, Laborie (FC BASEL 1893) defeated Mabouya Valley (AS Monaco) 1 – 0 with a goal from Lee Avril in the 22nd minute. And that’s how the score line remained up until the final whistle.
Game No.2 featured Soufriere (Bayern Munchen) and Canaries (Bayer Leverkusen). The scores were locked at the half time whistle 0 – 0 and again at regulation time despite several scoring opportunities. Penalty kicks were taken with Canaries (Bayer Leverkusen) nosing ahead 3 – 2 over Soufriere (Bayern Munchen).
