13 Swimmers For CARIFTA In M’ique

THE St. Lucia Amateur Swimming Association has selected a strong 13 member squad to represent the country at the 31st CARIFTA Championships, from March 22 to 26 in Martinique. The event is held under the auspices of the Caribbean Association of National Olympic Committees (CANOC).

The St. Lucia team includes five girls and eight boys. Three of the athletes are expected to make their debuts at this level, while the others are returning from last year when the championship was held in Barbados.

Mikaili Charlemagne, Allandre Cross and Veronica Brown are set for their CARIFTA debut in the 11 – 12 and 15 – 17 division. The three join returning campaigners Katie Kyle the 2015 “Junior female swimmer of the year” and Eden Crick, up a division to the 13-14 and 15 – 17 age group respectively.

The remainder of the squad is: Jamar Archibald, the “Junior Male Swimmer of The Year”, Terrell Monplaisir, JayhanOdlum-Smith, Devin Boodha, Jyasi Daniel Mark Emanus, Christopher Phillips and Omar Alexander.

Carol Mangal, President of the St. Lucia Swimming Association said: “The team selected participated in a number of events both locally and regionally leading up to this final qualifier. They would have attained the qualifying times set by the organizers”.
