Search for Carnival Queen Contestants Begins March 13

COMING off a successful 2015, The Carnival Planning and Management Agency (CPMA) and the National Carnival Queen Pageant Committee have commenced the journey for a new national carnival queen for this year.

Auditions are set for Sunday March 13 at the National Cultural Centre from 2:00 p.m. Young ladies from across Saint Lucia between the ages of 17 and 23 are all invited to be part of this life-changing opportunity.

Participants are expected to make a brief but dynamic introduction and will be judged in the segments of swimwear, talent, evening wear and interview.

Last year’s pageant saw many innovations which included a very early sashing ceremony at which contestants were showered with gifts from sponsors, contestant’s adoption of local charities, the first ever National Queen Pageant roadshow, sponsors hosted events, among others.

The 2015 National Carnival Queen Miss Yvana David, walked away with the grand prizes of a four year education scholarship to Universidad Due Quintana Roo in Cancun, Mexico, through the Mexican Embassy, a cash prize of $10,000.00 and a weekend for two at AnseChastanet Resort. All contestants received spa treatments, designer Meme Bete bags, cash awards, special category awards and more.

Chairperson of the National Carnival Queen Pageant Committee Mr. Trevor King commenting on the auditions, said:

“As a committee we look forward to setting the bar even higher for this year’s National Carnival Queen Pageant. Based on our plans for 2016, the journey to crowning a new Miss Saint.Lucia come June 2016 will be nothing short of remarkable. We therefore invite young ladies from every nook and cranny of Saint Lucia to be part of this journey with us. The prizes will continue to get better, opportunities are endless; there’s great scope for personal and professional capacity development; and it is also guaranteed to change your life as a participant.”
