Mia Mottley’s Barbados Labour Party has kept power in the young Republic island winning the 2022 General Election by a massive landslide.
An election that wasn’t constitutionally due for 18 months was called in a snap and resulted in the Red Party clean sweeping its way back into government.
According to unofficial results early Thursday morning, the BLP won all thirty seats contested in the snap elections.
The election wasn’t without controversy as complaints that thousands of Covid-positive citizens were denied a vote and an attempt to stop the poll on Tuesday night failed when the country’s high court ruled it had no jurisdiction to postpone the election.
