Following a virtual meeting held on Tuesday this week, officials from the Saint Lucia Olympic Committee (SLOC) Inc. and the National Lotteries Authority (NLA) of Saint Lucia have pledged closer ties between the two organizations.
During Tuesday morning’s meeting held via Zoom, executive members from both organizations discussed ways in which the SLOC Inc. and NLA can work together to ensure the development of sports in Saint Lucia.
Among the topics discussed were:
· Creating a clear and open communication channel between the two entities with respect to submissions from sporting federations requesting financial assistance.
· That sporting federations must substantiate the level of financial assistance being requested.
· That the NLA acts not only as a financier of sports, but also a more participatory partner.
· That the SLOC Inc. and NLA convene regular meetings to ensure that the communication channels remain open.
Through these basic actions, officials from both organizations aim to cultivate a culture of transparency, accountability and fairness in sports, all of which should be redound to the benefit of all stakeholders.
As a major sponsor for many sporting initiatives, the NLA is an essential partner, especially for the 20 national federations (NFs) that are members of the SLOC Inc. and such collaboration can only serve well for all entities involved.
