The Cultural Development Foundation will be conducting a number of lantern building workshops in the communities of Castries (CDF Office), Micoud (Micoud Secondary School and Laborie (The Papel Arts & Craft Centre).
These workshops will be held every Saturday in November commencing from November 5 from 9:30 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. Anyone interested in registering for the workshops can do so on arrival at the workshop site of their choosing. A cover charge of $10 for seniors and $5 for juniors can be paid at registration.
For those individuals who wish to enter the National Lantern Competition, scheduled for Saturday December3 from 2:30 p.m., registration is open and will close on Friday December 2 at 4:30 p.m.
Participants are asked to note the registration fee of $25 per lantern for seniors (18 years and older) and $15 per lantern for juniors (17 years and under) applies.
Lanterns will be judged under three categories- National, Traditional and Original. Monetary Prizes range from $500.00 – $1,500. All interested persons are ask to call the CDF on 457 9021.
