Police Suffer B-ball Defeat

THE Royal St. Lucia Police Force Basketball Team went down in a nail biting encounter 62 – 60 against Run N’ Gun All Stars of Vieux Fort on Tuesday evening in front of an empty Beausejour Indoor Facility.

The lawmen took 6 – 1 lead early in the first quarter only to allow Run N’ Gun All Stars to close the quarter at 16 – 17.

On the resumption with a one point deficit, the boys from the south were in a no nonsense mood as they quickly took the lead which they held up until the final whistle of the second quarter.

In the third quarter police showed some determination, but Run N’ Gun All Stars twere equal to the task.

With a deficit of three clear points and going into the final quarter, the RSLPF stayed in close range with contributions from No. 10 Erwin Tertullian, No. 5 CalliusDantes, No. 15 Valentinus Edgar, No. 8 KerlinusAuguste and No. 7Michael Flavien. Run N’ Gun All Stars big man No. 0 Gillan Joseph was fouled out and then given a technical by the referee for walking off the court, but the law men failed to capitalize on the two free throws awarded to them. With 0.01 seconds on the clock another foul was committed against police. Again they failed to capitalize on the two free throws to send the game into overtime with the score on 62 – 60.
