Following months of consultations with stakeholders across the island, consultants on Saturday 10 October 2026, presented draft proposals to the SLFA Inc., outlining the objectives and strategic pillars of the new plan.

Saturday’s consultation  brought together key partners — including the media — to ensure transparency, collaboration, and broad support for the future of women’s football.

The SLFA emphasized that the new strategy will focus on strengthening grassroots participation, enhancing competitive opportunities, and building pathways for Saint Lucian women to excel regionally and internationally.

Stakeholders welcomed the initiative as a vital step toward equity, visibility, and sustainable growth in the sport.

SLFA Inc. President Lyndon Cooper called on stakeholders at the Saturday’s consultation to compare the old strategic plan 2021-2025 to this new one and take away what is realistic and compartible for the next four to five years.

He was emphatic about the need for the female team to grow and achive, at least, world cup recognition.

Cooper spoke of wanting to see more women involved in national and regional organisations and of the need to be real and avoid ‘the building castles in the sky’ theory.

Andres Portabella, adviser to FIFA was also part of Saturday’s consultation where he expressed FIFA’s excitement at the work the SLFA Inc has been doing for female football and football on a whole.

The Review of the National Women’s Strategic Plan 2021-2025  began with a call to order and prayers followed by remarks by Cooper and Portabella. The interesting and exciting part of the consultation were the presentations by consultants Thomas Leonce and Lanfraze Cherubin of Commercial Excellence Consultancy Ltd, which was followed by a question and answer session.

Some aspects of the Strategic Plan 2026-2030 which were presented for feedback in the question and answer session were Governance and Management Structures; Corporate and Public Support; Marketing and Promotion; Personal and Educational Development; Elite Player Identification; a strength, weakness, opportunity and threats analysis of the SLFA Women’s Football Programme; Technical Development of Girls; Increasing Women’s Participation and the role of strategic priority areas in a strategic plan.
