Before the sun could rise over the hills of Babonneau, the community was already awake.
At 4:00 a.m. on Sunday, August 16, 2026, the sounds of music, laughter and excitement filled the early-morning air as J’ouvert revellers gathered at Cacao Playing Field, ready to take over the road on a colourful journey to Babonneau Playing Field.
For those who joined the J’ouvert, sleep was clearly not on the agenda.
Covered in paint, powder and Carnival spirit, revellers danced, jumped and celebrated their way through the community as the darkness slowly gave way to daylight. The road became a moving sea of colour and energy, with music providing the soundtrack to a morning that Babonneau will not soon forget.

And that was only the beginning.
By afternoon, Babonneau was transformed once again as Carnival officially took to the road from 1:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., travelling from Garrand to Babonneau Playing Field.
The community came out in full force.

Some residents put on their costumes and joined the bands, dancing behind the music trucks and becoming part of the spectacle. Others became enthusiastic spectators, lining the roads and standing outside their homes, eagerly waiting for the next band to appear.
As each band approached, the atmosphere seemed to rise another level. Music echoed through the community, costumes flashed in the sunshine and spectators cheered, waved and captured the moments on their phones and cameras.

For many, Carnival was not simply something to watch — it was something to experience together.
Children, parents, friends, neighbours and visitors all became part of the Sunday celebration. From the roadside to the parade itself, Babonneau was united by rhythm, colour and pure Caribbean joy.

The hours passed quickly, but the energy never seemed to fade. By the time the final revellers made their way to Babonneau Playing Field, the community had already created a day filled with memories, photographs and stories to share.
From the pre-dawn madness of J’ouvert to the vibrant afternoon parade, Babonneau proved once again that when Carnival comes to the community, the community comes alive.

Sunday, August 16, was more than a parade.
It was Babonneau in full colour, full sound and full celebration.
