SLASPA Continues Back-to -School Drive

The Saint Lucia Air and Seaports Authority (SLASPA) Education Enrichment Programme concluded its fourth Back-to-School Drive , distributing over 70 school bags in Castries and Vieux Fort to support students and ease family burdens.

The initiative , part of its CSR efforts, emphasizes community development, with officials praising the impact on education and future opportunities for Saint Lucia youth .

As the new academic year approaches, the Saint Lucia Air and Sea Ports Authority (SLASPA) continues  to reaffirm its commitment to building stronger communities by investing in the education of the nation’s youth. Through its Education  Enrichment Programme, the Authority recently concluded its fourth annual Back-to-School Drive, providing encouragement and practical support to students preparing to begin the new school year.

Held on July 29 in Castries and July 31 in Vieux Fort, this year’s initiative marked the second consecutive year that the programme was extended to Vieux Fort.

More than70 school bags filled with essential learning supplies were distributed to students in both communities, helping to ease the financial burden on families while equipping students with the tools they need to succeed academically. The Back-to-School Drive forms part of SLASPA’s Corporate Social Responsibility(CSR) Programme, reflecting the Authority’s belief that investing in education is one of the most effective ways to strengthen communities and create opportunities for future generations.

By supporting students today, SLASPA is contributing to the long-term social  .

Speaking at the presentation, Karim Sifflet, Senior Manager Marketing, Business Development and Customer Care, underscored the significance of the initiative. “SLASPA takes great pride in supporting the Faux A Chaux community, particularly in the area of education, as we believe that investing in education is one of the most meaningful investments we can make,” he noted . “Supporting communities within our operational footprint remains a cornerstone of our Corporate Social Responsibility programme, and we are delighted to know our contributions are making a lasting difference in the educational journey of these students.”

Parliamentary Representative for  Castries South , Dr.Ernest Hilaire, welcomed the initiative and expressed appreciation for SLASPA’s continued partnership with the Faux A Chaux community.

“The support given  by SLASPA is most welcome and certainly helps a lot.”

Similarly, Parliamentary Representative for Vieux Fort South, Danny Butcher, commended the Authority for recognizing that community development extends beyond infrastructure to include investing in people. “Amid all your infrastructural work to ensure our  safe and secure, you are also helping to protect our children. In doing so, you are strengthening our communities and safeguarding  the future of beautiful Saint Lucia. For that, I want to sincerely thank you.”

As SLASPA concludes another successful Back-to-School Drive, the Authority remains steadfast in its mission to create lasting impacts beyond its ports. Through initiatives like the Education Enrichment Programme, SLASPA continues to strengthen communities, inspire hope, and invest in the limitless potential of Saint Lucia’s children.
