As the island prepares to welcome both local and visiting revelers for the Lucian Carnival festivities and street parade on July 20 and 21, law enforcement agencies are urging participants to indulge in a “safe and peaceful celebration.”
With major events like the Kaiso and Soca Monarch contests, Panorama, and the King & Queen of the Bands now concluded, revelers and ‘Mas’ enthusiasts look forward to the grand street parade, set to take place over two days in the inner perimeter of Castries.
While there has been a noted decrease in criminal activity, with “continued improvements in several major categories of crime,” the Royal Saint Lucia Police Force (RSLPF) is advising the public to exercise care and caution during this carnival season.
The RSLPF’s crime statistics reveal a consistent reduction in major crime categories from January 1 to July 10, 2026, compared to the same period in 2025, including a 23% decrease in burglaries, 5% in robberies, 21% in drug offenses, 21% in thefts from persons, and 19% in sexual offenses.
In addition, the RSLPF has intensified operations to remove illegal firearms from communities. Between January 1 and July 10, 2026, officers successfully recovered 39 illegal firearms, along with a significant amount of ammunition and firearm components. These recoveries reflect the Force’s ongoing commitment to preventing violent crime before it occurs.
With Carnival celebrations in full swing , the Royal Saint Lucia Police Force has activated its Carnival security plan to ensure that residents and visitors can enjoy the festivities in a safe and secure environment. Officers will maintain a strong and visible presence throughout the island, featuring increased foot and mobile patrols, traffic management operations, and strategic deployments along parade routes, at major event venues, and in local communities.
Special response teams will be positioned for quick incident response, while police operations will continue throughout the Carnival period to deter criminal activity and uphold public order.
“The reductions we are seeing in several major crime categories illustrate what can be achieved through the hard work of our officers and the continued support of the public,” stated a release from the RSLPF.
The release further emphasizes, “As we prepare to celebrate Carnival, we ask everyone to prioritize safety. Respect one another, avoid unnecessary confrontations, and make responsible decisions. If you choose to drink, do so responsibly, look out for your family and friends, and follow the directions of police officers and event officials.”
“Our officers will be on duty throughout the celebrations to protect residents and visitors, ensuring everyone can enjoy Carnival safely. Carnival is one of Saint Lucia’s proudest traditions; let us all do our part to ensure it is remembered for its music, creativity, and culture—not for violence or disorder.”
The RSLPF wishes all Saint Lucians, returning nationals, and visitors a safe, peaceful, and enjoyable Carnival 2026.
