Fellow citizens of the Caribbean Community,

Today, as we observe CARICOM Day 2026, we celebrate the vision, courage, and determination that brought our Community into being and the shared purpose that continues to unite us as one Caribbean family.

CARICOM has always been more than an institution. It is a promise: a promise that our small states can achieve far more together than we ever could alone; a promise that our people, our cultures, our economies, and our aspirations are strengthened when we work in unity.

Across our Region, we are navigating a rapidly changing global environment shaped by climate pressures, economic uncertainty, food and energy challenges, security concerns, and the urgent need to expand opportunities for our young people. Yet, even in the face of these realities, the Caribbean continues to demonstrate its strength, creativity, and resilience. Time and again, our people have shown that we can meet adversity with courage, adapt with determination, and move forward with confidence.

This is why our focus must now be on renewal. We must build a stronger, fairer, safer, and more prosperous Community; one that delivers real opportunities and meaningful progress for the people of our Region.

We must deepen regional integration, improve transportation and connectivity, strengthen food and nutrition security, advance the CARICOM Single Market and Economy, embrace digital transformation, support innovation, and ensure that every citizen can feel the benefits of belonging to CARICOM in their everyday lives.

On this CARICOM Day, I especially call on our young people to see themselves as leaders, innovators, and builders of this Caribbean Community. Our future will be shaped by your ideas, your creativity, your energy, and your belief in what we can achieve together.

Let us recommit ourselves to the founding ideals of CARICOM: cooperation, solidarity, shared development, and respect for the dignity of every Caribbean person.

Today, let us continue building a Community that is united, resilient, inclusive, confident, and ready for the future; a Community that works for all.

I wish all citizens of our Caribbean Community a happy, hopeful, and meaningful CARICOM Day 2026.
