The 2026 Lucian calypso season has entered the pivotal quarterfinal stage. The South Calypso Tent kicked off the competition, facing the judges at the National Cultural Centre.
Every performance from this point on is critical. The journey to the finals starts now.
Patrons are invited to experience the vibrant commentary, captivating melodies, clever picong, humor, and exploration of social issues that showcase the full power of Lucian Kaiso. Don’t miss out.
The excitement builds for the Take Over Tent (TOT) event at the National Cultural Centre, scheduled for Saturday, June 20.
The competition is currently in its quarterfinal stage, running throughout mid-June at the National Cultural Centre in Castries.
Performances are taking place across four primary calypso tents: the South Calypso Tent (June 13), Fire One (June 17), KPT (June 18), and TOT (June 20).
Celebrating its 45th anniversary, TOT invites fans to join in the excitement this Saturday — the day before Father’s Day — as 11 talented artists take the stage in a thrilling showdown judged by a panel.
Special guest artists for the show include Ricky T, QPid, and Baby T. The TOT release encourages, “Come celebrate the legacy. Come feel the culture. Calypso, Culture Take Over!”
This season’s calypso offerings have been thrilling and provocative, with the CMMC (Carnival Music Management Committee) promoting the ‘Kaiso After Dark’ segment. Featured performers Mahandra, Snow, and Kittie are bringing a daring edge to the tent season through bold lyrics and candid discussions that only Kaiso can embrace.

From Mahandra’s unapologetic anthem “Without a Man” to Snow’s cheeky relationship theory in “Make Friends” and Kittie’s brash confidence in “Mad Over Me,” these artists show that Kaiso remains a fearless and unfiltered platform for entertainment.
The competition promises to provoke thought, spark laughter, and keep conversations going — no topic is off-limits, and that’s the essence of Kaiso.
Competition Schedule & Updates:
– Tent Performances: Artistes perform their qualifying songs before judges and a live audience.
– Admission: Tickets to these exciting shows are priced at $25.
– Advancement: Twenty artistes will progress from the quarter-finals to the Semi-Final round, scheduled for Friday, June 26.
Join us for a celebration of culture and music as we embark on this year’s vibrant Kaiso journey.
