The event will feature squads of 62 athletes and officials from the four Windward Islands: Dominica, Grenada, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, as well as the host country, Saint Lucia.
Continuing its long-standing support, Canadian Bank Note and Windward Islands Lotteries will sponsor the Games.
Established around 1912, the Windward Islands School Games are recognized as some of the oldest school sports competitions in the world. This year’s competition will showcase a variety of sports, including athletics, basketball (male and female), football, netball, and volleyball (male and female).
On May 12, a team led by Sports Director Clivus Jules from the Department of Youth Development and Sports, along with specialized staff, convened with representatives from the National Emergency Management Organization (NEMO), the Saint Lucia Medical and Dental Association, and the Ministry of Health, Wellness, and Nutrition to coordinate preparations for the event.
Additionally, discussions were held with a hotel in the northern part of the island to arrange accommodation and logistics for the visiting squads and officials.
Preparations within the various sporting disciplines are also in full swing, ensuring that Saint Lucia’s athletes are ready to compete at their best.
Saint Lucia enters the 2026 Games following a commendable performance in 2025, finishing third overall.
Notable highlights included second place finishes in track and field, male volleyball, and male basketball, along with third place in both female volleyball and female basketball, and fourth in football and netball.
With preparations in progress and enthusiasm building, the 2026 Windward Islands School Games are set to continue the tradition of spirited competition and foster camaraderie among the region’s youth.
