Mya Hippolyte secured her victory in the women’s 100m dash at the Huskie Classic with a season-best time of 11.88 seconds. The performance, aided by a 1.3 m/s tailwind, showcases her strong form and potential as the competitive season progresses.
This marks a significant improvement from her previous time of 12.23 seconds at the 2026 Big Blue Classic and highlights her consistent development, including a top 10 indoor 60m time in program history.

The past few days have been eventful for many US-based collegiate track and field athletes. As the season gains momentum, some athletes are celebrating graduation while others prepare for upcoming competitions.
In addition to Hippolyte’s success, fellow Saint Lucian athlete Kereser Augustin had a busy weekend representing Washburn University. At the Wichita State Shocker Open, she finished second in the women’s 400m with a time of 55.66 seconds, followed by a fifth-place finish at the Pittsburg State Almost Last Chance Meet in 55.81 seconds.
Lewis University’s Cagini Pilgrim also made his mark, placing second in the men’s 200m at the St. Francis Fighting Chance Invite with a time of 21.46 seconds. In the 100m, he finished fourth, recording times of 10.62 in the prelims and 10.59 in the final, his second-fastest wind-legal time this year.
Among those celebrating graduation this weekend were Naya Jules and Miguel Charlery. Jules, who holds Saint Lucia’s national record in women’s pole vault, completed her associate degree at Garden City College, while Charlery earned his bachelor’s degree from East Stroudsburg University.
Looking ahead, athletes will begin postseason competition starting Thursday, May 14.
Jules is a strong medal contender at the junior college Division I Outdoor Championships, which will be hosted by New Mexico Junior College in Hobbs, New Mexico. She is currently ranked in the top 10 for javelin throw and heptathlon and holds the 15th spot in pole vault.
This weekend also marks the start of conference championships for four-year NCAA schools, with over a dozen Saint Lucian athletes vying for spots at their respective national championships.
