This season’s eagerly anticipated Saint Lucia Premiere League (SPL) T20 championship continues to unfold, running from April 10 to May 23, with a thrilling line-up of matches on the agenda.

The SPL T20 mid-week fixtures were filled with drama, featuring centuries and nail-biting finishes.

On Tuesday, at Francis “Baba” Lastic Grounds in Gros Islet, the Babonneau Leatherbacks secured a stunning victory against the Soufriere Titans. Battling first, Titans posted a challenging 193-5, with Djourn Charles leading the charge with 79 runs off 49 balls and Dalius Monroe contributing 35 from 26 deliveries.

The Leatherbacks chased down the target with two balls to spare, thanks to Khan Elcock’s 49 off 28 balls and Qwaine Henry’s unbeaten 36 from 23, winning by four wickets.

At Mindoo Phillip Park, the Dr Freezers South Castries Lions triumphed over the Knights by 23 runs. Grenadian star batsman Andre “Spiceman” Fletcher dazzled with 114 runs from just 54 balls, supported by Bolton Sayers’ rapid 29 off 17.
The Knights struggled in their chase, ending at 169 all out. The Lions’ bowling was exceptional, led by Xavier Gabriel with figures of 3/9 in 2 overs and Daniel Jn Baptiste with 3/39 in four overs.

On Wednesday, the Leatherbacks’ winning streak came to an end against the Micoud Eagles at Mindoo Phillip Park. The Eagles set a formidable target of 188-7, anchored by Keygan Arnold, who scored 62 off 40 deliveries.

Despite Dane Edward’s impressive 72 off 49, the Leatherbacks fell just five runs short, finishing at 183-7.

The City Blasters edged out Choiseul CraftMasters in a high-scoring thriller at the FBLG, winning by three wickets. Choiseul posted an impressive 224-6, highlighted by Junior Henry’s century (101 off 50 balls).

Despite a valiant effort from the CraftMasters’ Josan James, who took 3-22, the City Blasters chased down the target in 18.3 overs, led by Paul’s explosive 91 off 51 balls and key contributions from Jaden Elibox (37 off 16).

With valuable points on the board, the Babonneau Leatherbacks, Dr Freezers South Castries Lions, Ackelles City Blasters, and Micoud Eagles are building momentum as the tournament heats up with excitement and anticipation.
