Coming this October.
LAST October, the National Competitiveness and Productivity Council (NCPC), in collaboration with Government of Saint Lucia launched the first annual Productivity Awareness Week. The main objective of the week was to cultivate and promote productivity awareness among individuals, enterprises and organisations throughout the nation – motivating and encouraging the populous to act in the interest of raising productivity levels throughout the country. In embracing the theme for the week ‘Enhancing Productivity Is Our Responsibility’ the council focused on engaging every Citizen, encouraging them to be a part of the event.
Productivity Awareness Week 2014 hosted a range of activities which included participation from both the private and public sectors, civil society and the youth. The event was able to get the nation thinking about productivity collectively, whilst also encouraging each individual to consider their respective roles in making the nation more productive.
Moving forward a year later, the council’s aim is to repeat the success of the first annual event. This year Productivity Awareness Week is set to take place from 12th – 16th October. Re-introducing the theme ‘Enhancing Productivity Is Our Responsibility’, organisers have said that this year’s event will provide a continuation of last year’s activity.
Geraldine Bicette- Joseph, Marketing Analyst at the NCPC states-
‘Last year, activities for the week centred on fostering an awareness of productivity throughout the nation, stimulating discussions centred around the measures that can be taken to enhance productivity within the current economic climate (within both the public and private sectors), and the process of inculcating a mind-set change in our citizens. This year the NCPC is set to centre on meeting these objectives once again but this time around we also wish to provide citizens with avenues where linkages can be made allowing them to increase their own productivity.’
She continues, ‘We are being very ambitious this time around, whereas we are attempting to touch as many communities as we possibly can within Saint Lucia. We will be educating all on the concepts of productivity and competitiveness and also offering them a helping hand in trying to further their own productivity goals whilst they move towards achieving a competitive edge.’

Activities to be found on this year’s calendar include a secondary schools productivity tour, a search for competitiveness radio competition, a competitiveness enrichment seminar, a primary schools productivity fair, productivity sessions with the Mini Bus Association, a young entrepreneur’s networking mixer and a host of media events and appearances.
