Ten outstanding recipients of the Department of Infrastructure, Ports and Transport and the Renewable Energy Sector Development Project (DIPT-RESDP SAP) have successfully completed their programmes of study, showcased at the Sir Arthur Lewis Community College (SALCC) during its recent 39th Graduation Ceremony.

This ceremony celebrated the remarkable academic achievements of the graduating class. The DIPT-RESDP Scholarship and Apprenticeship Programme (SAP) proactively supports young women pursuing technical studies in electrical and mechanical fields within the energy sector in Saint Lucia.

Partnership: This initiative is a vital collaboration between the Department of Infrastructure, Ports and Transport (DIPT), the Renewable Energy Sector Development Project (RESDP), and Sir Arthur Lewis Community College (SALCC).

Rhea Raoul emerged as a standout performer by topping her programme in Computer Systems Engineering, showcasing exceptional academic excellence and unwavering dedication throughout her studies.

The DIPT-RESDP SAP is firmly dedicated to closing the gender gap in energy-related fields by providing young women with robust access to higher education and skills training. The programme is instrumental in expanding opportunities for female students in engineering and related disciplines.

Building on this success, an additional twelve (12) scholarships have been awarded for the 2025/2026 academic year to young women enrolled at SALCC. These scholarships will unequivocally support studies at the associate degree level in Electrical, Mechanical, Computer Systems, and Automotive Engineering, as well as certificate-level programmes in Electrical Installation, Motor Vehicle Mechanics, and Air Conditioning Systems within the Engineering Unit.

Dominic Alexander, a representative of the DIPT-RESDP, expressed immense pride in the achievements of the graduates. “Their success is a strong reflection of their commitment and hard work. We are proud to support these young women and look forward to their continued success,” he stated. He emphasized that their accomplishments underscore the critical importance of initiatives like the DIPT-RESDP SAP in creating sustainable pathways for long-term professional growth.

The DIPT commends all scholarship recipients for completing their programs and passionately celebrates their contributions to academic excellence and national development.
