IICA ECS Representative Meets with Newly Appointed Agriculture Minister

Greg C.E. Rawlins, the IICA ECS Representative, met with Saint Lucia’s newly appointed Minister for Agriculture, Fisheries, Food Security, and Climate Change, Lisa Jawahir.

Minister Jawahir was joined by Permanent Secretary Bradley St. Ange and Deputy Permanent Secretary Dr. Randel Esnard.

During this crucial courtesy visit, Mr. Rawlins delivered a thorough overview of IICA, emphasizing its mandate and key thematic areas. He unequivocally pledged the full support of the IICA Delegation to advance the Ministry’s programs under her leadership.

In preparation for her upcoming trip to Costa Rica for the inauguration of Dr. Muhammad Ibrahim as IICA’s Director General for the 2026–2030 term, the Minister received important briefings. She is set to engage with the Director General, fellow Ministers, and other officials, in addition to touring the IICA Headquarters facilities.

To mark the occasion, Mr. Rawlins presented the Minister with an IICA token, confident in her capabilities as she steps into this vital role. It was agreed that upon her return from Costa Rica, the IICA Delegation will conduct a comprehensive briefing on ongoing projects and initiatives.

This will facilitate a discussion on her vision and priorities for Saint Lucia’s agricultural sector, ensuring that IICA’s support aligns effectively with these objectives as we move forward.
