Saint Lucia proudly welcomes a dynamic group of passionate seafarers and adventurers as they prepare to embark on an extraordinary global sailing experience.

On Thursday evening, key figures from the local hospitality sector gathered to bid farewell to around 100 sailors set to depart this Saturday for the 2026/2027 World ARC.

A fleet of 25 yachts will leave the IGY Rodney Bay Marina, heading to Panama before embarking on a circumnavigation of nearly 27,000 nautical miles, with a return to Saint Lucia slated for April 2027.

World ARC is designed for both seasoned sailors and adventurous newcomers. It emphasizes safety, camaraderie, and cultural exchange by providing professional route planning, weather forecasting, shoreside support, and a vibrant social program at every destination.

This is more than a sailing event; it is a once-in-a-lifetime journey that celebrates exploration, resilience, and the shared spirit of ocean voyaging.

Introductory remarks and supportive comments from World Cruising Club (WCC) General Manager Paul Tetlow and IGY Rodney Bay Marina’s General Manager Shawn Devaux set an energetic tone for the evening, enhanced by the pulsating rhythms of guest DJ Dr. Beat and his crew.

Louis Lewis, CEO of the Saint Lucia Tourism Authority (SLTA), welcomed the participants with enthusiasm.

“We are thrilled to host this race in Saint Lucia; it’s a pivotal moment for the visibility of our yachting sector,” he said, emphasizing that with about 100 participants aboard 25 boats for this 15-month global journey, the sailors play a crucial role in promoting Saint Lucia as their final destination.

The fleet is set to traverse through at least 18 to 19 countries on this remarkable expedition.
