PRESS RELEASE — As the Post-Pandemic Latin America and Caribbean Economic Recovery and Youth & Women Empowerment Program concludes, we write this tribute to Project, Mr. Manager Steven Wang, whose dedication over these past months has profoundly impacted both our program and our own professional growth.
Working alongside Steven, we witnessed multiple initiatives unfold with the Youth Economy Agency (YEA) and National Skills Development Centre (NSDC). What impressed us most about Steven’s management style was his attentive oversight; he didn’t micro-manage, but he was always present when it mattered. Through regular check-ins and progress monitoring, he ensured every program stayed on track while respecting the expertise of our local partners.
The Angel Fund program illustrated Steven’s support role perfectly. While YEA handled the proposal evaluations, Steven worked tirelessly behind the scenes to secure funding and coordinate logistics. His efforts enabled 343 participants to receive entrepreneurial grants throughout the year, including 169 in October and 57 in November. He understood that sometimes the best leadership means ensuring others have what they need to succeed.
Similarly, with the Specialized Programs and Opportunities Relating to Technical Skills (SPORTS) Programme, Steven provided steady guidance as NSDC delivered vocational training to 50 participants. His consistent monitoring and support helped achieve an impressive 70% employment rate by October. He knew when to step in and when to trust the process.
However, the Taiwan Culinary Training and Competition Program, organized in partnership with NSDC and Taiwan Technical Mission (TTM), revealed a different side of Steven. Over the month-long program training 20 professional chefs in Taiwanese cuisine, Steven attended every single class. We watched him fully immerse himself in each session, learning alongside the participants with genuine enthusiasm and curiosity. During the culinary competition finale, his energy and encouragement were palpable – he wasn’t just a project manager observing from the sidelines, he was an active participant celebrating Taiwanese culinary culture.
The program’s tremendous success owed much to Steven’s personal commitment. His hands-on involvement showed the chefs that this wasn’t just another training program – it was a cultural exchange he deeply believed in.
These months working with Steven taught us that exceptional project management isn’t about controlling every detail. Steven showed us it’s about knowing when to support from the background and when to step forward with full commitment. It’s about building trust with partners, staying informed without interfering, and recognizing moments that deserve your complete presence.
As Steven prepares to return to Taiwan, we’re grateful for his mentorship and example. He balanced professional oversight with personal investment in ways we’ll carry throughout our careers.
Thank you, Steven, for these memorable months. Saint Lucia celebrates your dedication and wishes you every success ahead!
