Uber is actively expanding its operations in Saint Lucia and invites licensed taxi operators to download the Uber Driver app and start the onboarding process, which is now open islandwide.
Effective immediately, Uber has initiated the registration and onboarding phase for taxi drivers in Saint Lucia in preparation for the app’s upcoming launch on the island.
Licensed taxi operators who want to be part of this opportunity can sign up now to be ready from day one.
“We are seeking licensed taxi drivers eager to enhance their earnings through technology and connect with the growing segment of tourists who prefer the Uber app. The onboarding process is live for our Uber Taxi option, which focuses on rides completed by licensed taxis,” stated Jorge Cordero, General Manager for Uber in Saint Lucia.
Cordero emphasized that Uber is collaborating with taxi associations and transportation companies throughout Saint Lucia to ensure they understand how to express their interest in joining the Uber app via a dedicated registration form.
“Our mission is to work hand-in-hand with licensed taxi operators and their organizations as we bring Uber Taxi to the island,” he said.

The Uber app will empower riders in Saint Lucia to complete trips using Uber Taxi, featuring only licensed taxi drivers.
Drivers interested in joining can begin their registration and complete the onboarding steps directly through the Uber Driver app. Uber Taxi enables every licensed taxi operator to drive with the app, as long as they meet the service requirements. This option connects local taxi drivers with residents and the high volume of tourists who already rely on Uber when visiting new destinations.
It has seen strong adoption across the Caribbean, including in Barbados, Jamaica, and the Dominican Republic, and continues to be widely used in major global markets such as France, Colombia, and New York City.
During the registration process, taxi drivers must provide the following documentation:
– Driver’s license
– Taxi permit
– Insurance
– Bank account that accepts US dollars
– Profile picture
– Background check

At this stage, Uber’s priority is onboarding interested taxi drivers and engaging them as key stakeholders. An official announcement regarding the launch in Saint Lucia will follow once all preparations are finalized.
