On a pristine Saturday afternoon August 23, 2025 at the SLFA Inc. Technical Centre, the rising stars of Castries staged an impressive second-half comeback to defeat a valiant but ultimately error-prone Roseau U12 boys team by a score of 3-1.
The match began at a furious pace, with the underdog Roseau side stunning the favourites early. Applying immediate pressure, Roseau’s striker, Jeanine Joseph, found the breakthrough in just the 5th minute, slotting the ball home to send his team into raptures as he drew first blood.
However, the lead was short-lived. Castries, demonstrating the quality that marks them as a team on the rise, settled into their rhythm and found an equalizer in the 14th minute. The goal was a moment of pure class, as Inisia Pinel connected with a superb volley that left the Roseau goalkeeper with no chance, leveling the score at 1-1.
The two sides battled to a stalemate for the remainder of the half, but the complexion of the game changed entirely after the restart. Castries emerged from the break with redoubled effort and intensity, while Roseau began to unravel.
The fate of the match was sealed by the indomitable Eli Mathurin, who put on a clinical second-half display. He first put Castries ahead in the 40th minute, capitalizing on a defensive blunder from a disorganized Roseau backline. Mathurin was not done, putting the result beyond doubt in the 52nd minute with a well-taken second goal to make it 3-1.
Frustrated by the shift in momentum and aggrieved by what they perceived as obvious officiating blunders, the Roseau players appeared dejected and distracted. Their complaints saw them lose crucial focus, and they ultimately played the ultimate price, unable to mount a response as Castries saw out the game comfortably.
