
On Thursday night, a shooting in the Marchand community resulted in the tragic deaths of a fifteen-year-old juvenile and another male victim according to reports.
In total, six individuals were shot, with two meeting their demise, during a brazen attack in the Black Mallet community. This marks the most alarming violent events in the area in recent years.
The 15-year-old boy, Kevin Ishmael of George Charles Boulevard, who was initially among the wounded, later succumbed to his injuries at the hospital, while one man was pronounced dead at the scene who has since been identified as Shawn Demille a fifty (50) year old of Trou Rouge.
Another male victim is reported to be in critical condition, and three others, including two women, are hospitalized but stable.
Gunfire erupted on or about 11:05 pm, sending shockwaves through the community.
The Royal Saint Lucia Police Force has initiated a comprehensive investigation into this incident. The identities of the victims remain unconfirmed, and the motive for the shooting is currently under investigation.
As of the latest updates, there have been no further developments regarding this incident.
On Wednesday July 17, 2025 about 6:00 p.m. joint police operation with the Gangs, Narcotics and Firearms Unit, the Special Operations Team and the Department of Road Safety and Investigations resulted in the recovery of seven hundred and twenty six (726) grams of Cannabis and fifty (50) grams of Cannabis Resin with a street value of twenty-nine thousand five hundred and forty ($29,540) dollars.
On Friday July, 18, 2025 whilst on patrol along Micoud Street, Castries officers of the Special Services Unit conducted a search on a male individual. The search resulted in the recovery of a Glock .380 Firearm and seven (7) rounds of Ammunition. The suspect is presently in police custody.
In a related note, police reports indicate that a St. John Ambulance Brigade volunteer and a Port police officer have been arrested in a significant drug bust, which netted over $1.5 million in narcotics.
These arrests occurred on Wednesday as part of targeted operations conducted by the Gangs, Firearms, and Narcotics Unit, with support from the Special Operations Team, Special Services Unit, and Marchand Police Station, in collaboration with the Customs and Excise Department.
During a series of targeted raids in Odlum City, codenamed Operation Safe Haven, law enforcement seized an illegal firearm.
Inspector Shervon Matthieu from the police press relations unit confirmed that initial searches did not yield results, but a follow-up operation uncovered a loaded 9mm pistol with an extended magazine, hidden beneath a concrete slab near a suspect’s residence.
The suspect was arrested, and the firearm has been secured for forensic analysis.
On Tuesday, a St. John Ambulance Brigade volunteer was detained at George F. L. Charles Airport after attempting to clear packages containing nearly 15 kilograms of suspected cannabis and related products.
Later that same day, a Port police officer was arrested at Shed 6 in Port Castries for trying to retrieve a barrel containing over 26 kilograms of cannabis resin concealed in sealed metal cans.
The total estimated street value of the seized narcotics in both operations exceeds EC$1.5 million. The suspects are currently in custody as investigations continue.
Police emphasize that these back-to-back successes demonstrate the RSLPF’s unwavering commitment to combating gun violence and dismantling drug trafficking networks in partnership with Customs and Excise.
Authorities are advocating for enhanced screening of port workers and increased scrutiny of shipments linked to NGOs and charitable organizations, noting the sophisticated concealment methods employed by traffickers.
