Police Investigate Homicide at Arundel Hill

Police investigators are actively probing the recent homicide involving the death of a young male victim. Deland Lucien, 25, from Faux-A-Chaux, Castries, is the deceased.

On July 5, around 1:55 a.m., officers responded to a shooting incident at Arundel Hill, Castries.

Initial inquiries confirmed that two individuals sustained gunshot wounds during the incident, with one pronounced dead by medical personnel.

The Major Crimes Unit is leading the investigation.

The Royal Saint Lucia Police Force is mobilizing its personnel to ensure a strong police presence throughout the affected communities. The RSLPF assures the Saint Lucian citizenry that it will spare no resources in pursuing those involved in criminal activities.

In a separate incident, on July 9 at approximately 10:48 a.m., officers responded to a report of a suspected drowning near a beach in Soufriere.

The deceased has been identified as 76-year-old Johnny Smith, an American national who was snorkeling with his family at the time of his tragic death.

Initial inquiries indicate that the individual received treatment on the scene from personnel of the Saint Lucia Fire Service. He was then transported to the Soufriere Hospital via ambulance, where he was pronounced dead by medical officials.
