District 8 Dominates Inter-District Primary School Sports Once Again

The Inter-District Primary School Sports Meet continues to serve as a vital developmental platform for Saint Lucia’s budding athletes. The 2025 edition brought together student-athletes from across the island’s eight educational districts in a spirited competition for top honours.

.

For the second consecutive year, District Eight emerged champions, amassing a commanding total of 354 points — a 121-point lead over their nearest competitor, District Two, who finished with 233 points. District Five followed closely in third with 232 points.

The defending champions, made up of Fond St. Jacques Primary, Soufriere Infant and Primary, Canaries Infant and Primary, Bouton Combined, and Les Etangs Combined, were presented with a cheque of EC$10,000 by the event’s title sponsor, Jade Mountain / Anse Chastanet Hotel, during a brief awards ceremony held on Tuesday, June 24, 2025, at the Soufriere Mini Stadium.

.

The ceremony welcomed key figures including Sports Director Clivus Jules, Youth and Sports Officer Saralee Williams, Executive Assistant Manager of Jade Mountain / Anse Chastanet Peter Jn Paul, as well as PE teachers, student-athletes, and members of the Ministry of Youth Development and Sports’ Communications Unit.

In his address, Jules applauded the dedication of District Eight’s teachers and support staff and paid tribute to Nick Troubetzkoy, founder of Jade Mountain, who passed away in 2024.

.

“Nick’s passion for youth development left an enduring legacy. The backing from Jade Mountain / Anse Chastanet has been tremendous, and we’re here today because of that unwavering support,” said Jules.

Representing the resort, Peter Jn Paul echoed similar sentiments, describing Troubetzkoy as the visionary behind the initiative.

.

“This contribution of EC$10,000 is more than just a sponsorship; it’s a message of encouragement and inspiration. Saint Lucia now celebrates its first Olympic gold and silver medalist, Julien Alfred, and we believe many more young stars are waiting to shine — not just for medals, but for mastery and self-growth,” he said.

The Inter-District Primary School Sports Meet continues to be a beacon of youth athletic development, fostering talent, sportsmanship, and national pride.
