In a significant step towards fostering mutual cooperation and enhancing diplomatic relations, Saint Lucia and the Kingdom of Morocco signed a Visa Waiver Agreement for Diplomatic Passport holders, along with a Roadmap of Cooperation Agreement. The agreements were signed by the Honorable Alva Baptiste, Minister of External Affairs, International Trade, Civil Aviation and Diaspora Affairs of Saint Lucia and His Excellency Mr. Nasser Bourita, Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccan Expatriates of the Kingdom of Morocco on November 8, 2024, in Rabat, Morocco. This historic signing ceremony was attended by senior officials from both countries as it marks a new chapter of collaboration between the two nations.
The aim of the Visa Waiver Agreement is to foster diplomatic engagements by facilitating hassle-free entry for Diplomatic Passport holders travelling between the two countries. This initiative is expected to streamline immigration processes and enable diplomats to engage in more seamless dialogue and collaboration on key global issues.
Simultaneously, the Roadmap of Cooperation Agreement outlines the strategic areas of collaboration between the two nations for the period 2025-2027. The agreement is expected to enhance cooperation in key sectors such as Education, Agriculture, Fisheries, Economic Development and Investment, Culture, and Technical Cooperation.
These agreements highlight the shared vision of the Government of Saint Lucia and the Kingdom of Morocco in working together on common interests, promoting progress and prosperity for both nations and their people. The agreements are expected to come into force, following respective legislative and administrative procedures.
