Saint Lucia Kings in CPL Finals Tomorrow

For the third time, the St Lucia Kings have reached the finals of the Caribbean Premier League (CPL). Head coach Daren Sammy and his technical team believe that this year, the Kings possess the ability, determination, and zeal to clinch the title. Sammy highlighted that the team has drawn inspiration from the recent Olympic successes of Saint Lucian sprinter Julien Alfred, who won Gold and Silver medals in Paris.

Sammy emphasised that the team is focused on bringing home the “Silverware” to bring joy and delight to their fans, who have shown immense support.

As finalists in this season’s CPL T20 tournament, the Saint Lucia Kings will face the winner of Qualifier Two in the final tomorrow (Sunday). The Amazon Warriors played against the Barbados Royals in Qualifier Two last night.

The Kings secured their spot in the final on Wednesday by defeating Guyana in Qualifier One in a rain-affected match, winning by 15 runs according to the Duckworth-Lewis-Stern (DLS) method.

Commenting on his partnership with skipper Faf du Plessis, Player of the Match Johnson Charles said, “We feed off each other’s energy. We have different styles of play, which gives us a very good understanding and also plays with the bowlers’ minds. This means a lot; for so many years we have been trying. I believe this year is our year. I think we have a very good chance, and it’s our year to win this tournament.”

The two veteran players have formed impressive opening stands for the Kings and hope to continue this momentum into the final.
