As Saint Lucia embraces Emancipation Month, it is imperative to champion increased tolerance, unity, and inclusion across all societal sectors and groups in the country.

Minister for Equity, Social Justice, and Empowerment, Joachim Henry, passionately calls for a modern Saint Lucia that embodies the true spirit of emancipation. Henry emphasizes the necessity for society to reflect on its journey towards freedom and continue building a community where no sector or group feels marginalized.

“The Rastafarian movement has been at the forefront of advocating for freedom and justice. As we strive to create a truly emancipated society, every group, including Rastafari, must feel a strong sense of belonging and be empowered to contribute to our nation’s progress,” the minister stated.

He added that “in a truly emancipated society, every group—whether it be community organizations, faith-based groups, or cultural movements, plays a crucial role in the social well-being and development of the country.”
