On June 24, 2024,  21 police officers from various departments of the Royal Saint Lucia Police Force (RSLPF) commenced a weeklong professional development course in collaboration with the National French Police Force (Police Nationale) and with support from the French Embassy. The course covered essential areas for police officers, including Crime Scene Management, Crime Scene Examination, Evidence Collection, Matching, Fingerprinting, Ballistics and Crime Scene Documentation.

At the closing ceremony, Commissioner of Police Crusita Descartes-Pelius and Mr. Domenico Ditaranto, First Secretary at the French Embassy, delivered key addresses. Commissioner Pelius emphasised the importance of collaboration in achieving success, as crimes and criminals seldom operate in isolation. She further emphasised that continuous self-development through quality education is the catalyst for self actualisation. Police Constable 535 Benedict Hippolyte shared insights into the course’s impact and personal benefits.

The RSLPF expressed gratitude to its French counterparts for providing invaluable training, reinforcing their commitment to combating crime alongside small island developing states. The force remains dedicated to creating safer communities through effective modern training.
