All Stars tops SLFA Div. II League

Matches in the St. Lucia Football Association [SLFA] Inc. Div. II competition continues at the Desruisseaux Playing Field this week with 1987 All Stars triumphing over Diamond Ballers 3-2, as they overcame a 2 – 0 deficit.

Mc. Arthur netted a brace with goals in the 56th and 78th minutes (penalty), while Javon Ferguson scored in the 60th minute. Tevin Preudhomme and Jason Louis with goals in the 32nd and 52nd minutes respectively, scored for Diamond Ballers.

1987 All Stars currently tops the table with 20 points – one more than Bays FC who have a game in hand.

New Generations beat Knight FC 4-2 as the former side were buoyed with a hat trick from Baggio Edwards scoring in the 16th, 55th and 79th minutes, while Shakim Hunte converted in the added-on time in the first half.

Knights FC got their goals from Devon O’Brian and Cilius Sealy in the 65th and 77th minutes respectively.

Meanwhile, the St. Lucia National Men Under-17 football team left the island Monday (August 22) to participate in the Pride of the Caribbean Under-17 Boys Invitational tournament, which runs from August 23 to 28.

Four teams are down to participate, namely; Grenada, St. Lucia, St. Vincent and the Grenadines (SVG) and host Antigua and Barbuda.

St. Lucia was due to play the opening game on Tuesday (August 23) against Grenada, followed by the encounter between Antigua and Barbuda and SVG.

St. Lucia next play SVG on Wednesday (August, 24) at 5.00 pm.

The Technical Team consists of; Coaches Trevor Anderson and Ryan Desir, Jeff Emmanuel goal-keeping coach, Mike Annius trainer and Ali Henry manager.

In other updates; the St. Lucia Gems returned to the island on Monday, following their participation in the Caribbean Invitational Under-15 Women Classics that was held in Antigua and Barbuda.

In their final game of the tournament, St Lucia Gems defeated St. Vincent and the Grenadines (SVG) 3 – 2. However, SVG emerged winners of the tournament with 7 points, same as Grenada but with a superior goal difference.
