The title race for the SLFA Inc. Division I championship is keenly poised, after matches were completed, this week, at separate venues.
Monchy United, Platinum FC and BI FC were all in winners’ mode – and the goals poured in aplenty.
At the Phillip Marcellin Grounds [PMG], in Vieux Fort, Monchy United demolished GMC 6 – 0, with Jahil Evans scoring a hat trick inclusive of two penalty conversions and goals in the 16th, 33rd and 47th minutes. Troy Greenidge got a brace with goals in the 25th and 77th min and Eden Charles 45th min.
Also at the PMG, Platinum FC thumped Ti Rocher 8 – nil. Gregson President netted a hat trick with goals in the 8th, 44th and 67th minutes, while Ectus David 32nd, Perry Simeon 36th, Kurt Frederick 61st, Kimland Mason 65th and Mekesh Savery in the 2nd minute of added on time completed the rout.
At the PMG, B 1 FC beat last week’s table toppers VSADC 2-NIL; with goals from Lamar George and Travis St. Pierre in the 44th and 81st min respectively.
At the Soufriere Mini Stadium, El Ninos FC and Victory Eagles played to a 1 – 1 draw. Joseph Mangal opened the scoring for El Ninos in the 9th minute while Zephania Edwin equalised for Victory Eagles in the 54th min.
Results of matches played in the SLFA Inc. Div. I league, Thursday, are as follows:
Victory Eagles vs. GMC 1-0,
BI FC vs. Northern United 2-1.
Presently, in the Div. I league; BI FC leads the points table with 18 points from 7 games, followed by Monchy United with 16 points from 7, and Platinum FC 15 points from 7, displacing VSADC from the top of last week’s table to leave them in fourth place with 14 points from 8 matches.
Meanwhile, matches in the SLFA’s Inc. Div. II competition continued, on Wednesday, at the Soufriere Playing Field.
Bays edged out New Generations 1-nil; with the goal from Rick Leonty in the 61st minute.
Knights FC beat home favourites- Black Panthers 2-1. Mikey Wilfred and Jared Faucher scored for Knights with goals in the 67th and 71st min respectively; while David Henry scored a penalty for the home team in the 3rd min of added on time.
At the Desruisseaux Playing Field, Diamond Ballers clung on to a 4 – 3 victory over Togetherness Youth. For Ballers, Jessie James scored a hat trick with 4th, 20th and 49th min. goals, and the other from Tevin Preudhomme in the 65th min.
Togetherness Youth got their goals from Zacky Harper, Rohan Lamie and Jaquaine Jules with conversions in the 13th, 67th and 2nd min of added on time.
