SLASPA Speaks on Port Incident

A Reach Stacker carrying a container partially tipped over while encountering what appears to be a dip on the asphalted/concreted part of the docks.

According to an official statement from the Saint Lucia Air and Sea Ports Authority (SLASPA), an incident occurred during vessel operations on the evening of Wednesday, June 22, 2022, at Port Castries – involving one of their equipment.

The situation, however, did not have any effect on port operations personnel and SLASPA’s Engineering Team was deployed to assess the situation to determine the immediate need and course of action to remedy the same.

As a result, the release noted, this would lessen the number of equipment available for port operations, therefore, persons transacting business at the Port may expect a delay in service delivery.

“We apologize for any inconvenience caused by the temporary unavailability of equipment and assure the public of our commitment to ensure that operations can return to some level of normalcy at the earliest,” the communique concluded in saying.
