The Water and Sewerage Company Inc. (WASCO) is actively enhancing its services for residents and businesses in the city centre of Castries, Saint Lucia.
This ongoing effort focuses on crucial infrastructural upgrades to the sewerage network, particularly benefiting areas such as Block X of the CDC building on Coral Street.
Following a service disruption at the Jeremie Street station last month, WASCO has intensified maintenance across the Castries sewerage network. The company is committed to improving the reliability of wastewater services and acknowledges the concerns and inconvenience that service disruptions can cause for residents.
A WSCO spokesperson said , “Our maintenance crews are prepared to respond swiftly and efficiently to any issues that arise.”
In line with broader modernization goals, WASCO has successfully installed and commissioned new, state-of-the-art pumps that are now fully operational. This advancement significantly enhances the capacity and reliability of wastewater management in Castries Central, reducing the risk of overflows and bolstering overall efficiency.
These improvements are vital for safeguarding public health within the community. These upgrades are integral to WASCO’s Water and Wastewater Master Plan, a comprehensive 25-year framework developed with support from the Caribbean Development Bank aimed at building climate-resilient water and wastewater services across Saint Lucia.
With the aging collection network in Castries Central identified as a high-priority investment area, these projects are vital for future sustainability.
WASCO appreciates the patience of residents during these improvements and reaffirms its commitment to maintaining and modernizing Saint Lucia’s water and sewerage infrastructure.
