SLFA Boys Under-14 League Competition Heats Up

On Sunday, June 4, the SLFA Inc. Boys Under-14 District League competition continued with exciting action in the preliminary round matches.

At the Corinth Playing Field, Anse La Raye overcame a determined Marchand squad, winning 4-2. The goals for Anse La Raye came from Mitchel Deterville, who scored twice in the 44th and 60th minutes, along with Liam Danzie in the 50th minute and Javon Menville in the 66th minute.

Marchand found the back of the net with goals from Wendell Etienne and Matayio Lionel in the 18th and 51st minutes, respectively.

In another match, Babonneau secured a victory by default over Canaries.

At the Technical Centre in Grande Riviere, Mabouya Valley triumphed over their east-coast rivals Dennery with a score of 3-0. Vijay Edwin scored a brace in the 36th and 54th minutes, while Keevan Louisy added a goal in the 55th minute.

Desruissesaux and Vieux Fort South played to a goalless draw.

In the final match of the day, Soufriere claimed a 2-0 victory over Mon Repos, with Abayomi Cazaubon scoring both goals in the 33rd and 38th minutes.

In the meantime, the SLFA Inc. Primary Schools Boys Under 12 District League competition resumed with thrilling matches at the Technical Centre in Grande Riviere, Dennery, on Saturday, June 13.

The day’s competition featured three engaging matches highlighted by remarkable performances. Roseau Valley and Desruisseaux celebrated victories, while table leaders Marchand and defending champions Mabouya Valley ended in a riveting draw.

In the opening match, Roseau Valley achieved their first win of the season, narrowly defeating Dennery 1-0 with a goal from Yannel Estephane in the 14th minute.

Desruisseaux followed suit, securing a 1-0 victory over Micoud, thanks to Liam Anderson’s decisive goal in the 35th minute.

The final match of the day saw Marchand and Mabouya Valley battle to a tense 1-1 draw. Mabouya Valley surged ahead with a goal from Micarj Joseph in the 14th minute, but Marchand leveled the score with a late equalizer from Lendel Calderon in the 47th minute.

An SLFA spokesperson remarked that the competition continues to highlight the talent and determination of these young athletes.
