Parks Spearheads Seajays Victory at Beaubrun Meet

Seajays Swim Club triumphed at the 10th Annual Karen Beaubrun Swim Meet, held from June 6-7 at the Rodney Heights Aquatics Centre, showcasing a remarkable display of talent and teamwork.

Sapphire Parks, Tristan Dorville, Jayden Xu, Tyler Dantes, Miles Andrew, and Amber Francois were standout performers, leading the Seajays to their eighth consecutive title.

The team topped the standings with an impressive 1,407 points, including 74 gold medals among a total of 172 medals. The Sharks, led by their women’s team, secured second place with 966.5 points, 29 gold medals, and 85 total medals.

Lightning Aquatics followed in third with 626 points and 27 gold medals. RR Aquatics placed fourth with 589.5 points and 24 event wins, while Rodney Heights Aquatics and Southern Flying Fish rounded out the participating clubs.

Parks, a two-time high points winner at the CARIFTA Aquatics Championships, continued her exceptional performance for 2026. She led a Seajays sweep in the 11-12 girls category, finishing ahead of Maya Andrew and Khiara Hippolyte.
Parks earned a perfect score of 72 points from eight individual events, breaking her own national record in the 400m individual medley with a time of 5:24.04. Additionally, she set three new age group records: a 27.84 in the 50m freestyle, surpassing Naima Hazell’s 2018 record; a 2:14.89 in the 200m freestyle, which erased Fayth Jeffrey’s 2022 mark; and a 30.97 in the 50m backstroke, improving her own record from 2025.

Andrew claimed victories in the 100m backstroke, 50m breaststroke, and 100m breaststroke, while Hippolyte finished first in the 100m freestyle and 200m backstroke.

In the open boys division (18 and over), Dorville led with 72 points, achieving personal-best times to win the 50m freestyle, 100m backstroke, and 50m butterfly. Shemar James placed second, while Olympic swimmer Jayhan Odlum-Smith, returning from injury, took third.

Xu, a regional medallist, scored 70 points in the 15-17 boys division, achieving career-best times in the 50m backstroke, 50m breaststroke, 50m butterfly, and 400m individual medley, where he improved his previous personal best by over 11 seconds.

Noah Dorville secured second place for Seajays, with Aaron Charles from Lightning Aquatics in third. Dantes, also a CARIFTA gold medallist, earned 70 points to win the 11-12 boys category, demonstrating significant improvements in the 100m and 200m backstroke, 50m butterfly, and 400m IM. He topped competitors Jayce Daniel of Lightning Aquatics and Dylan Corcoran from Seajays.

Miles Andrew excelled in the 9-10 boys category, winning all four freestyle events, including personal bests in the 200m and 400m. He also claimed victories in the 50m and 100m butterfly and the 200m IM with record times. Tiago Nelson from Seajays and Andrew Charlemagne from RR Aquatics finished second and third, respectively.

Francois secured the 9-10 girls title with a total of 64 points, finishing just ahead of Zoe Fortune (Sharks) and Leamandia Brown (RR Aquatic).

In addition to the standout performances by the Seajays team, three more records were broken by Mikaili Charlemagne of the Sharks in the open girls category. The Tokyo 2020 Olympian accrued 66 points and set new records in the 200m freestyle (2:15.08), 200m backstroke (2:36.71), and 100m butterfly (1:06.79).

The weekend was a celebration of swimming excellence, showcasing the dedication and skill of all participants at the Beaubrun Meet.
