The Environmental Health Division within the Ministry of Health, Wellness and Nutrition recently conducted an assessment at the Dr. Betty Wells Urban Polyclinic, which confirmed the presence of bed bugs.
Currently, the Ministry of Health is taking swift measures to address the issue. Over the next few days, the Environmental Health Division will continue assessment and treatment at the Dr. Betty Wells Urban Polyclinic to ensure the facility is safe for both staff and patients.
As a result, the Dr. Betty Wells Urban Polyclinic will be temporarily closed to the public from Wednesday, May 13, 2026 to Sunday, May 17, 2026. During this period, Primary Healthcare Services will be redirected to the La Clery Wellness Centre from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 midnight. However, the National Eye Clinic will continue its operations. Emergency cases will be attended to at the Owen King EU Hospital (OKEUH).
All health services at the Dr. Betty Wells Urban Polyclinic are expected to resume on Monday, May 18, 2026.

The Ministry of Health, Wellness and Nutrition remains committed to ensuring the safety and well-being of both patients and staff. The Ministry will continue working diligently to resolve the situation and will provide further updates as necessary.
