Soccer Thriller Explodes at SMS

Last weekend’s matches in this season’s SPFL delivered more thrilling action for fans and supporters at the Soufriere Mini Stadium.

On Sunday, league leaders La Clery faced off against their fierce rivals, Central Castries, in an intense 1-1 draw.

The first half set the stage with two crucial goals: Erickson Magloire put La Clery ahead in the 15th minute, but Messiah Pinel equalized for Central Castries in the 37th minute.

La Clery’s unbeaten run remains intact, while both teams demonstrated relentless determination in their pursuit of qualification spots. With La Clery continuing their quest for maximum points, the match proved to be a pivotal battle in the fight for the top four.

In another exciting match, Mabouya Valley secured a dramatic 2-1 comeback victory over Vieux Fort South. Following a tough first half, Obafami Poyotte broke the deadlock for Vieux Fort South just before halftime in the 44th minute.

However, Mabouya Valley rallied in the second half with Neilbert Jn Louis leveling the score in the 50th minute, followed by Brandon Sandiford’s composed penalty conversion in the 90th minute. This hard-fought effort allowed Mabouya Valley to reclaim their 2nd place standing.

Saturday’s match was a goal-fest as Soufriere and Canaries ended in a thrilling 4-4 draw. Canaries surged ahead in the 19th minute with a goal from Denyl Ln Baptiste, followed by Dhriv Jn Baptiste, D Henry, and Donovan Jn Baptiste scoring in quick succession.

Soufriere fought back with an equalizer from an own goal by K Henry and further goals by T Sylvester, S Simon, and J Henry, showcasing relentless competition until the final whistle.

In the final encounter, Gros Islet  defeated Dennery 3-0, with Jahil Evans, Baggio Edward, and Mekhi Stanislaus delivering goals at pivotal moments in the 11th, 26th, and 61st minutes, respectively.
