
A joint intelligence-led operation conducted by the Royal Saint Lucia Police Force’s Gangs, Narcotics, and Firearms Unit (GNFU) has resulted in the arrest of two individuals—one reportedly a Customs Officer—following the interception of a significant drug shipment in Vieux Fort.
The operation took place on Friday, June 27, and was initiated after authorities received intelligence about a suspicious package arriving at the port. Acting swiftly, officers retrieved the package from the cargo shed and executed a coordinated interception in the southern town.
Upon inspection, the package was found to contain 4 kilograms of compressed cannabis and 2 kilograms of cannabis resin, both concealed within everyday household items.
The suspects, identified as Andrina Epiphane and Shaquille Walker, were apprehended without incident and later formally charged with multiple drug-related offences, including:
- Possession of Controlled Drugs (Cannabis)
- Possession with Intent to Supply (Cannabis)
- Possession of Controlled Drugs (Cannabis Resin)
- Possession with Intent to Supply (Cannabis Resin)
- Importation of Controlled Drugs
Authorities confirmed that a parallel financial investigation has also been launched, with the Financial Intelligence Authority assisting in exploring possible money laundering activities. Efforts are underway to initiate asset forfeiture proceedings on the vehicles connected to the operation.
The Royal Saint Lucia Police Force, in a statement, reaffirmed its commitment to combatting drug trafficking and corruption within public institutions.
“This arrest reflects our unwavering stance against narcotics and our dedication to upholding the integrity of our borders and our institutions,” a police spokesperson stated.
