The West Indies women are today doing battle with the visiting South African women’s team in the second of the three ODI series at The Three Ws Oval in Cave Hill in Barbados.
In their first ODI on Wednesday June 11th, the West Indies registered a much-needed win after a dismal showing in their previous series against England, losing every encounter in that 6-match series.
Wednesday’s match saw the return of Captain Hayley Matthews which no doubt inspired the squad back to winning ways. West Indies Women won by 4 wickets with 12 balls remaining (DLS Method).
Matthews scored 4 fours and a solitary 6 on her way to 40 runs while her opening partner St. Lucian Qiana Joseph hit 10 fours and one 6 to register a team high total of 60 runs.
