

The St. Lucia International Masters Football Tournament is in full swing. The much-talked event will see the participation of some 30 teams making it one of the largest in the region. A total of 10 foreign teams are participating.
The tournament kicked off Thursday with matches at the Gros Islet mini Stadium and the Dennery Paying Field. On Friday evening players came together for a “Mix Up” at the Daren Sammy Cricket Ground.
Head of Veterans In Sports Inc. {VIS} Alvin Malaykhan, says this years tournament is expected to be the best to date. He highlighted the excitement of the foreign teams coupled with the preparation of the local teams as the basis for his exuberance this year. Mr. Malaykhan believe the growth in popularity was as a direct result of the experiences of teams in recent years. He is positive that in years to come The St. Lucia International Masters Football Tournament will be the undisputed best tournament in regional veterans football.
Last years 40s champions Era Masters of Trinidad and Tobago are present and will be looking to successfully defend their title. Masters Reloaded are the champions in the 50s category and they too are expecting to give a good account of themselves.
The tournament culminates on Monday June 9th.
