Following a weekend of high energy music competitions, the Carnival Planning and Management Committee has announced the finalists for the 2025 Soca and Calypso Monarch Competitions. Despite the rains, scores of people assembled at the National Cultural Centre on Friday, June 28, for the Groovy & Power Soca Semi-Finals and on Sunday, June 29, for the Calypso Semi-finals.
20 songs competed in both the Groovy and Power Soca categories in an effort to make it to the finals of the Soca Monarch competition scheduled for Friday, July 11, 2025. The defending Groovy Soca monarch is Sly, and Power Soca Monarch, Ricky T. The artistes qualifying for the finals are listed below in alphabetical order.
In the semi-final round of the Calypso competition held Sunday, June 18, calypsonians each presented 2 songs. 9 calypsonians were selected to advance to the finals of the Calypso Monarch competition for a chance to dethrone reigning monarch, Dezral.
