Students to Gain Practical Experience Through Summer Employment Programme

The Government of Saint Lucia will once again roll out its annual Summer Employment Programme, providing local students with valuable workplace experience across various public service agencies. The programme is scheduled to begin on July 1, 2025.

This initiative, which runs for a one-month period, is open to university students, tertiary-level students, and secondary school students currently in Form Five. Participants will be placed in government departments and agencies to develop practical skills and competencies that support their future professional growth.

To ensure smoother coordination, the students will be split into two groups. The first group will undertake their employment during the month of July, while the second group will participate in August.

Participants will receive a stipend during the employment period, which is intended to support them as they gain insight into the operations of the public sector.

In preparation for the programme, eligible students are required to complete an application process, which includes submitting copies of their school identification and national identification cards. The deadline for submission of all required documents is Friday, May 30, 2025.

The Summer Employment Programme is part of a wider effort by the Government to invest in the development of the nation’s youth by fostering early exposure to professional environments and enhancing career readiness.
