This season’s SPL T20 Semi-Professional cricket competition reaches a critical juncture as teams prepare for the intense qualifying stages.
The action begins on Monday at the Gros Islet Mini Stadium (GMS), with the Ackelles City Blasters facing off against the SCCA South Castries Lions in Qualifier 1.
On Tuesday, the Sail Gros Islet Knights will take on the CCCU Choiseul Craft Masters in the Eliminator at the Mindoo Phillip Park. The Knights have dominated the competition thus far, led by skipper Kimnai Melius’s strong batting and Tyrel Chicot’s outstanding bowling performances.
However, the Knights must not underestimate the Choiseul team, which features several formidable players ready to challenge them.
Following these matches, the qualifying teams will compete in Qualifier 2, scheduled for Thursday, May 15, at a yet-to-be-announced venue.
The SPL T20 finals will take place on Saturday, May 17, at a designated venue.
The excitement surrounding T20 cricket continues to grow, capturing the attention of sports fans across the island. This is particularly evident in the northern community, where fans flock to the GMS to passionately support their teams.
With the SPL elevated to a semi-professional league, the stakes have never been higher, with both bragging rights and substantial monetary rewards on the line for the players.
