Denver Alphonse Jr., Saint Lucia’s fastest rising young cycling star, delivered an exceptional performance this past weekend, securing victories in two marathon races.
At just 17 years old, he consistently outshone his competitors, winning by a considerable margin.
The weekend featured a two-stage race organized by the St Lucia Cycling Association.
On Saturday, 15 athletes faced off in a 5km time trial road race, starting at Bexon and finishing at Cul de Sac.

Dynamic Alphonse Jr. took the lead with an impressive time of 6:38 seconds. Coming in second was Gillan Moses at 7:03 seconds, while Winston William rounded out the top three with a time of 7:09 seconds.
On Day 2, the competition intensified as 12 cyclists competed in a 77-kilometer road race, which spanned from the Castries Waterfront, along the East Coast route, and concluded at Saltibus.
Denver triumphed once again with a remarkable time of 2:41.34 seconds, leaving Jordan Richard in second place at 2:47.49 seconds and Gillan Moses in third at 2:50.09 seconds.
Denver created a commanding six-minute gap over his competitors, launching a solo attack from Morne Fortune to the finish line.
Currently, Alphonse, alongside Moses, is in Martinique, gearing up for the ‘Granpri 22 ME’ races, set to take place from May 22 to 25, which will include a time trial and a road race.
