
Saint Lucia welcomed a significant increase in cruise ship arrivals yesterday when seven cruise ships anchored in its harbours.
According to tourism officials, this influx, with a combined passenger capacity of 6,524, provided a substantial economic boost to the island’s tourism sector.
Docked in Port Castries were the Norwegian Viva and Vision of the Seas.
The Royal Clipper, which was expected in Castries opted to dock in Soufriere joining the Evrima, Emerald Sakara, and Sea Cloud which were already there.
The Le Champlain docked in Vieux Fort and created economic opportunities for businesses in the southern region.
“Saint Lucia, recognized as the Caribbean’s Leading Adventure Tourism Destination, is well-positioned to offer visitors an immersive experience filled with thrilling excursions—from ziplining through lush rainforests and enjoying the warmth of volcanic mud baths to diving into the vibrant marine life. Tour operators, local artisans, taxi drivers, and hospitality businesses are among those expected to benefit significantly from the increased activity, reinforcing the vital role that cruise tourism plays in the island’s economy,” remarked Louis E.A. Lewis, CEO of the Saint Lucia Tourism Authority.
