The Royal Saint Lucia Police Force (RSLPF), this week, said it noticed a troubling trend where unidentified individuals contact persons via telephone, making demands that are usually accompanied by insults, threats and or deception.
“These callers usually indicate that they are facing an emergency, sometimes of a medical nature, and require urgent assistance or mobile credit to contact a relative, eliciting an emotional response. Do not comply with their demands. Verify the authenticity of the claims made. If you suspect you’re a victim of this scam, report the matter immediately,” RSLPF said in a social media post.
Reports can be made at the nearest police station, the emergency line 999, or anonymously through the crime hotline application, or 555, our crime hotline.
