Although the Road Safety Department’s primary role is traffic enforcement and regulation, the foremost duty of every police officer remains the preservation of life and property and the maintenance of law and order. This much was evident on Tuesday, 28th January 2025, when officers conducting routine road safety operations on Brazil Street, Castries, swiftly intervened in another incident of theft involving a visitor. Their prompt response led to the apprehension of another suspect and the recovery of the stolen item. This matter was subsequently referred to the Criminal Investigations Department, reinforcing the police force’s commitment to upholding public safety in all circumstances.

Emphasising that the operation of a motor vehicle is a privilege that is often taken for granted, the RSLPF noted that the law exists to safeguard the rights of everyone while maintaining order within the country.

“By failing to adhere to the law, you place yourself and other road users at risk of serious injury and death,” the RSLPF sated in a press release.

The Department of Road Safety and Traffic Investigations says it remains committed to ensuring that those who flout the law are prevented from continuing this blatant disregard.  The RSLPF extends its gratitude to members of the public who adhere to road usage laws and encourages them to continue setting an example as model citizens.
